Senior Software Engineer (Medical Devices)

Location: Onsite in Burnsville, Minnesota, United States

Salary: $110,000–$140,000 annually

What you will do

• Develop firmware and user-interface software used in medical device products for real-time navigation, device control, and electrophysiology workflows.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, quality, regulatory, clinical, marketing, and operations teams to define requirements and drive product development.
• Build reliable, safe, and scalable software in compliance with IEC 62304 and FDA Class II/III device requirements.
• Develop automated, unit, and integration tests and support verification and validation activities.
• Support design transfer, manufacturing, post-market software updates, field-data analysis, and continuous product improvement.
• Maintain software requirements, architecture, design, traceability, risk-analysis, and other development documentation while mentoring engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field; an advanced degree is preferred.
• At least 5 years of software development experience in the medical device industry.
• Strong proficiency in Java, C, C++, RTOS, and microcontrollers for embedded systems.
• Experience with FDA 510(k), PMA, EU MDR technical documentation, cybersecurity standards, or post-market surveillance.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to work onsite at the Burnsville location.

Nice to have

• Experience with Azure DevOps, code analysis tools, and software lifecycle processes.
• Previous startup experience.
• Advanced technical degree.
