Electrical Design Engineer (Offshore Energy)

Location: Newcastle city centre, Grey Street. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK. National and international travel may be required.

What you will do

• Design electrical systems and solutions for complex bespoke engineering projects.
• Write technical specifications, select components, and support project costing and budgeting.
• Prepare inspection, testing, and FAT documentation.
• Deliver engineering work packages with minimal supervision and help ensure projects remain on time and within budget.
• Support commissioning and installation activities and provide technical support to customers and internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to standardisation and efficiency improvements.

Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or a similar discipline.
• Experience in a comparable role within a project-driven engineering environment.
• Strong electrical design experience covering 230V and 440VAC power distribution, machine control and instrumentation, control panels, motor starters, and VSDs.
• Experience with Electrical CAD tools; EPLAN Electric P8 is preferred.
• Familiarity with ISO9001 or similar quality standards, plus an understanding of DNV GL and Lloyd’s standards.
• Right to work in the UK is required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of marine and offshore environments.
• Experience with subsea or high-voltage systems.
• Knowledge of functional safety standards such as IEC61508, IEC61511, or IEC13849.
• Commissioning and testing experience.
