Electrical Design Engineer (Offshore Energy)

Location: Newcastle city centre, Newcastle - Grey Street, UK. The role may require national and international travel.

What you will do

• Design electrical systems and solutions for bespoke offshore energy engineering projects.
• Write technical specifications, select components, and support project costing and budgeting.
• Provide technical support to customers and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare inspection, testing, and factory acceptance test documentation.
• Deliver engineering work packages with minimal supervision while supporting commissioning and installation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to standardisation, efficiency, and on-time project delivery.

Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or a similar discipline.
• Experience in a similar role within a project-driven engineering environment.
• Strong electrical design experience covering power distribution systems, machine control, instrumentation, control panels, motor starters, and variable speed drives.
• Experience with Electrical CAD tools; EPLAN Electric P8 is preferred.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality standards, plus knowledge of DNV GL and Lloyd’s standards.
• Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of marine and offshore environments.
• Experience with subsea systems, high-voltage systems, commissioning, and testing.
• Knowledge of functional safety standards such as IEC 61508, IEC 61511, or IEC 13849.
