Sr. Staff Mechanical Engineer - BlueSky (R5825)

Location: Remote

Salary: $240,000–$350,000 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular full-time employees.

What you will do

• Design, analyze, and integrate mechanical systems and subsystems for advanced aerospace platforms.
• Develop avionics packaging, harnessing and connector solutions, structures, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings.
• Own mechanical engineering deliverables from concept and prototyping through testing, production, and field support.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Program Management to deliver buildable, testable, and reliable designs.
• Provide hands-on technical support during testing, demonstrations, and field operations.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement design fixes under tight timelines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• 5–6 years of hands-on mechanical design experience in aerospace, ground support equipment, or ruggedized hardware systems.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, NX, CATIA, or similar.
• Experience creating detailed drawings, assemblies, and GD&T-compliant documentation.
• Knowledge of structural design, material selection, manufacturing processes, and engineering calculations including stress, thermal, tolerance stack-up, fatigue, and FEA as applicable.
• Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management.

Nice to have

• Root cause analysis and structured problem-solving experience.
• Familiarity with ASME, ISO, ASTM, MIL-STD, and environmental qualification testing.
• Knowledge of power distribution, hydraulics, or aerospace support systems.
• Experience working with external suppliers or contract manufacturers.
