TL;DR
Space Surveillance R&D Engineer (Aerospace): Developing algorithms and software for satellite detection and tracking with an accent on sensor system design, simulation, and hardware integration. Focus on building robust processing pipelines for ground- and space-based sensor networks in a high-security environment.

Location: Hybrid in Colorado Springs, CO (50% onsite in SCIF required). Hiring is restricted to specific US states (AL, AZ, CA, CO, DC, FL, GA, HI, IL, IN, KS, MA, MD, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, RI, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI, WV) or the United Kingdom.

Salary: $127,500–$212,500 per year.

What you will do

  • Develop algorithms and software for sensor data tasking, collection, and processing.
  • Perform system-level design, simulation, and integration of hardware for space surveillance.
  • Support the transition of products to the Slingshot Global Sensor Network and operations centers.
  • Engage with stakeholders to ensure mission-critical outcomes.
  • Prepare technical reports and represent the team through presentations.
  • Lead individual and small team projects within the R&D department.

Requirements

  • Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required.
  • Undergraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or Astronomy.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in Python, C++, and Docker.
  • Ability to work in a SCIF in Colorado Springs, CO for up to 20 hours per week.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

Nice to have

  • Graduate degree in a relevant technical field.
  • Deployment experience in a Linux operating environment.
  • Experience with Cislunar SSA, orbital analysis, or astrodynamics.
  • Background in machine learning, radiometry, or statistical analysis.
  • Early-stage startup experience.
