Senior Software Engineer, Payment (Fintech)

Location: San Jose, California, United States

Base salary: $178,888–$268,333 per year, plus potential performance bonus, long-term incentives, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate high-scale, 24/7 APIs and distributed payment services using Java and Spring Boot across multiple cloud providers.
• Own systems end to end, from design documentation through production operations.
• Integrate and scale payment channels and methods across global markets.
• Build for transaction correctness through consistency, idempotency, reconciliation, failure recovery, and operational tooling.
• Investigate distributed-systems problems, participate in design and code reviews, and drive complex issues to resolution.
• Collaborate with product, design, and partner teams while mentoring engineers and raising technical standards.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend software development experience building and operating high-availability, large-scale applications.
• Strong foundations in data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and software design patterns.
• Experience with ownership of outcomes, complex dependencies, cross-team collaboration, and autonomous problem-solving.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including explaining technical trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Genuine interest in crypto or fintech and in building financial systems.
