Senior Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: California; in-office collaboration is expected 10+ days per month

Annual base salary for positions based in California: $172,000–$215,000 USD, excluding equity, bonuses, and other additional compensation.

What you will do

• Develop enterprise-level payment applications for instant, secure, and efficient cross-border settlement.
• Prototype and implement solutions to sophisticated distributed-systems and payment-transaction challenges.
• Design and deliver complex features for large-scale, highly available systems in regulated environments.
• Collaborate with product, legal, business development, and engineering teams to align technical decisions with organizational goals.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support for engineering standards across the team and department.
• Navigate technical debt and lead feature-level migration efforts while delivering business value.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a deep focus on backend systems.
• Hands-on experience building and operating modern, cloud-native, highly available distributed systems.
• Strong Java and ecosystem knowledge, including threading and concurrency.
• Strong API design and integration skills using REST and/or gRPC.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and container orchestration with Kubernetes or ECS.
• Demonstrated technical ownership, cross-team influence, and experience working in complex regulated environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience with Go, Kotlin, C#, Python, Rust, or other robust backend stacks.
• Experience with event-driven architecture and technologies such as Kafka or SNS/SQS.
