TL;DR
Manufacturing Engineer (Mechanical Subassemblies) (Aerospace): Developing and sustaining manufacturing processes for spacecraft mechanical subassemblies from prototype through flight production with an accent on repeatable assembly, tooling, traceability, and flight-quality standards. Focus on improving manufacturability, leading root-cause investigations, executing qualification and environmental testing plans, and coordinating production across engineering, quality, supply chain, and manufacturing teams.

Location: Redondo Beach, onsite. Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain an export license under ITAR and EAR regulations.

Salary: $105,000–$135,000 per year, plus potential stock options, medical, vision and dental coverage, and access to a 401(k) retirement plan.

What you will do

  • Own manufacturing processes for spacecraft mechanical subassemblies from prototype through flight production.
  • Develop and maintain work instructions, travelers, manufacturing plans, tooling, and manufacturing bills of materials.
  • Partner with design engineering on design for manufacturability, assembly, reliability, and production readiness.
  • Support hands-on assembly, integration, troubleshooting, and testing on the production floor.
  • Lead root-cause analysis, non-conformance investigations, corrective actions, and engineering change implementation.
  • Coordinate manufacturing activities and continuous improvement across engineering, quality, supply chain, and production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing engineering, production engineering, precision electromechanical assemblies, process engineering, or mechanical integration.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Experience with hardware assembly, troubleshooting, mechanical systems, and cross-functional engineering and production teams.
  • Preferred experience includes spacecraft or other high-reliability hardware, cleanroom manufacturing, aerospace quality systems, testing, ECOs, configuration management, PLM, tooling, fixtures, and CAD.
  • Must be a U.S. Person or eligible to obtain an export license under applicable U.S. export regulations.
