Principal Civil Engineer – Roading

Location: Auckland, New Zealand; hybrid work model with in-person Day 1 onboarding at an hirify.global office

What you will do

• Lead the coordination and delivery of roading packages across the Northland Corridor project.
• Define project requirements, scope work packages, and establish delivery pathways.
• Manage interfaces between contractors, designers, technical specialists, maintenance and operations teams, clients, and project partners.
• Provide design management and package leadership across multidisciplinary teams.
• Identify risks, constraints, and opportunities and develop practical project solutions.
• Integrate construction, maintenance, and operational requirements into efficient, buildable infrastructure designs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience delivering major transport or infrastructure projects in New Zealand or Australia.
• Strong design management, project coordination, technical reporting, drawing review, and specification development skills.
• Experience defining project requirements, scoping work packages, and managing interfaces across complex multidisciplinary projects.
• Proven ability to coordinate contractors, maintenance and operations teams, designers, technical specialists, clients, and project stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, relationship-building, and technical-commercial judgment.

Nice to have

• Experience working in a Public-Private Partnership environment.
• Experience in contractor, client, or client-side organisations.
• Chartered Professional Engineer status or equivalent New Zealand-recognised professional registration.
• Experience delivering large-scale transport infrastructure projects in New Zealand or Australia.
• Understanding of maintenance and operational requirements for major infrastructure assets.
