Chief Systems Engineer (Defense)

Location: Santa Clarita, California, United States — onsite. Relocation assistance may be provided for select candidates.

Salary: $173,200–$250,000 USD annually, plus bonus.

What you will do

• Lead large technical teams in delivering solutions for complex customer requirements.
• Represent the technical solution with customers, suppliers, and management.
• Synthesize requirements into low-risk systems engineering solutions.
• Produce technical documentation for customers and engineering teams.
• Provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams and report technical status and plans to varied audiences.
• Recommend training and evaluate the technical performance and potential of team members and applicants.

Requirements

• 20–25 years of experience with US Department of Defense prime contractors or companies directly supporting them.
• Experience with hardware and software development, integration, and testing for deployed military vehicle applications.
• Expert knowledge of DOORS and Cameo, plus working knowledge of ClearQuest, JIRA, and Rational development tools.
• Ability to operate and debug Linux- and VxWorks-based computing systems.
• Knowledge of SOSA and VPX standards, serial communication protocols, processing and graphics solutions, and rugged computing systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with System Safety Assessment, Functional Hazard Assessment, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis.
• Experience with RTCA/DO-254, DO-178 processes, and FAA certification.
