Library Technician

Location: Edwards Air Force Base, California, United States; onsite

What you will do

• Manage circulation, renewals, returns, overdue notices, and inventory for the AFRL Technical Library and Field Library.
• Enter and maintain records in library systems, technical document catalogs, and MARC cataloging fields.
• Assist users with library catalogs, databases, indexes, scanners, digitizers, and other research resources.
• Shelve, sort, rotate, preserve, label, barcode, and inspect books, periodicals, reports, and electronic media.
• Process serials, validate holdings, report missing issues, and transport materials between library locations.
• Compile library usage statistics and maintain Microsoft spreadsheets with monthly updates.

Requirements

• Associate degree required.
• Two to four years of professional experience as a library technician.
• Experience with electronic library circulation and catalog systems.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills and strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States; the position may involve U.S. export-controlled information under EAR and ITAR.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Prior experience in a technical library.
• Experience working on a military installation or directly supporting Air Force or Space Force operations.
