Vice President, Infrastructure, Engineering & Operations (Federal IT)

Location: Fully remote within the United States

Salary: $250,000–$275,000 annually

What you will do

• Serve as the senior accountable leader and primary interface for VA executive leadership, federal partners, stakeholders, and internal leadership.
• Lead executive briefings, governance forums, KPI reporting, optimization reviews, and strategic decision-making.
• Oversee infrastructure optimization, data center engineering and operations, SIAM implementation, FinOps maturity, incident management, and service delivery.
• Develop and execute strategic infrastructure optimization plans, multi-year modernization roadmaps, and transformation strategies across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.
• Manage a multidisciplinary organization of 50+ personnel and align delivery with VA priorities, funding models, compliance requirements, and mission outcomes.
• Drive operational excellence through Agile practices, performance measurement, risk management, continuous improvement, and financial optimization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, business, engineering, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may substitute.
• At least 15 years of experience leading large-scale federal IT programs, enterprise technology initiatives, or complex multi-workstream environments.
• Experience supporting VA, OIT, or comparable federal health, benefits, or mission-focused IT environments.
• Expertise in program governance, executive reporting, KPI development, Agile delivery, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning.
• Experience with hybrid infrastructure, cloud platforms, on-premises systems, data centers, SIAM, FinOps, cost optimization, incident management, and reliability improvement.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Suitability/Public Trust clearance.

Nice to have

• PMP, Agile, or SAFe certification.
• Experience with VA OIT, VBA, or VHA initiatives.
• Experience leading SIAM or FinOps transformation programs.
• Familiarity with ServiceNow, Power BI, Jira, enterprise dashboards, and portfolio reporting platforms.
• Experience with chargeback/showback models, infrastructure cost management, and business office integration.
