Structural Test Technician (Aerospace)

Location: Greenbelt, Maryland, United States; onsite work supporting NASA test facilities. US citizenship required. No relocation assistance is available.

Salary: $73,200–$109,800 per year, with the pay range specific to the Greenbelt, Maryland area.

What you will do

• Support vibration, strength, acoustic, centrifuge, static load, and modal testing of space flight hardware.
• Set up and operate test facilities, control systems, measurement transducers, and data acquisition equipment.
• Install accelerometers, LVDTs, force gauges, strain gauges, and load cells on spacecraft subsystems and structures.
• Use mills, heavy drills, and lathes to modify facility parts.
• Process collected test data into spreadsheets and PDF files.
• Operate or learn to operate manlifts, cranes, and forklifts while maintaining clean and orderly test areas.

Requirements

• Direct experience performing structural testing.
• Proficiency with Windows OS and Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Familiarity with hand tools, electrical and mechanical principles, and mechanical drawings.
• Ability to learn new technologies and follow policies and procedures in a test environment.
• Ability to distinguish colors on an eight-color display and work from ladders, scaffolding, catwalks, and manlifts.
• US citizenship is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with vibration and acoustic test control software such as M+P.
• Machining experience using mills, heavy drills, and lathes.
• Knowledge of basic electrical and electronic circuits.
• Experience installing test instrumentation and operating cranes, manlifts, and forklifts.
