Lead Software Engineer - AI

Location: Dallas, TX; the candidate must live close to a designated IT location in the United States, including New York, Louisville, Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, Dallas/Frisco, Boston, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Nashville, Chicago, or Charlotte.

Salary: $129,300–$177,800 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan.

What you will do

• Design and own the end-to-end architecture of AI systems, including LLM-powered clinical tools, RAG pipelines, agent workflows, and intelligent automation.
• Evaluate foundation models and guide fine-tuning when appropriate, prioritizing safety, accuracy, and clinical relevance.
• Build model evaluation frameworks, automated evaluation pipelines, benchmarks, and large-scale output quality assessment.
• Design and implement multi-agent systems with orchestration, tool use, and sandboxed execution environments.
• Partner with product managers, designers, clinicians, and data stakeholders to translate care workflows into AI features.
• Ensure AI systems comply with HIPAA and hirify.global’s Responsible AI standards, including applicable review processes.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years focused on production AI/ML systems.
• Hands-on experience building with large language models and orchestration frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex.
• Strong proficiency in Python, TypeScript, and modern ML tooling such as Hugging Face or PyTorch.
• Production experience designing and deploying RAG pipelines and vector search systems.
• Experience with model fine-tuning, custom LLM and agent evaluation frameworks, and end-to-end ownership of complex AI systems.
• Understanding of HIPAA requirements and secure handling of protected health information, plus strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in healthcare, clinical informatics, or another highly regulated industry.
• Exposure to clinical NLP, medical coding, or EHR/FHIR data standards.
• Experience operating AI systems at scale on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
