Lead AI Engineer (AI)

Location: Sleepy Hollow, New York, United States; onsite expectations apply.

Salary: $109,900–$179,300 annually.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and deploy enterprise-scale AI applications, intelligent agents, and LLM-powered systems.
• Build autonomous AI systems with LangChain, LangGraph, Strands, and CrewAI, including tool use, planning, and memory management.
• Develop MCP servers and vector database solutions for secure enterprise integrations, semantic search, and RAG pipelines.
• Administer and evolve the enterprise LLM Gateway, covering model routing, access controls, rate limiting, observability, and multi-model orchestration.
• Evaluate and integrate foundation models from OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS Bedrock, and other providers.
• Lead and mentor AI engineers, define technical standards, contribute to the AI roadmap, and collaborate with business, data science, clinical research, cloud, and vendor teams.

Requirements

• 7–10 years of progressive software and AI engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a technical lead or senior individual contributor role.
• Expert-level Python development experience with production REST APIs using FastAPI.
• Hands-on experience building AI agents, MCP servers, and LLM-powered applications with LangChain, LangGraph, Strands, or CrewAI.
• Experience with vector databases, preferably Milvus, for RAG and semantic search pipelines.
• Experience administering LLM API gateway platforms and working with model routing, observability, access governance, and multi-model orchestration.
• Bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. in computer science, computer engineering, artificial intelligence, or a related technical field; AWS Certified Machine Learning Specialty certification is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS AI services, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, CI/CD, Databricks, Dataiku, Postgres, Redis, and NoSQL databases.
• Experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or healthcare environments.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional or Certified Kubernetes Administrator certification.
