Construction Inspector

Location: Onsite in Brentwood, Knoxville, or Chattanooga, Tennessee

What you will do

• Inspect, observe, document, and verify contractor work against schedules, plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Inspect materials and perform on-site material testing for excavations, drainage facilities, road surfaces, and structures.
• Complete field measurements and complex mathematical calculations for completed pay items.
• Maintain daily reports covering work activities, contractor labor and equipment, and verified material quantities.
• Coordinate work and inspection phases with the contractor’s superintendent and agency personnel.
• Support project procedures and prepare documentation, including as-constructed sketches and final estimate package materials.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of construction inspection experience; the position is listed with 4+ years of experience.
• DOT certification in one or more areas and the ability to obtain required certifications and pass qualification tests within specified time frames.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and physical conditions, including lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 35 pounds.
