Construction Inspector (Transportation)

What you will do

• Inspect, observe, document, and verify contractor work for compliance with schedules, plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Inspect materials and perform field material testing for excavations, drainage facilities, road surfaces, and structures.
• Calculate and measure completed work and field quantities for pay items.
• Maintain daily reports covering work activities, contractor labor, equipment, and verified materials.
• Prepare as-constructed sketches and support documentation for final estimate packages.
• Coordinate work schedules and inspection phases with the contractor’s superintendent and agency personnel.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of construction inspection experience; the position is listed with 4+ years of experience.
• DOT certification in one or more areas.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• Ability to obtain required certifications and pass qualification tests within specified time frames.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record; ability to work outdoors and perform physical activities, including lifting up to 35 lbs.
