Lead Industrial Designer (AI)

Location: Onsite at 201 Spear Street, San Francisco, California, USA. International and domestic travel may be required.

Base pay range: $198,100–$272,500 USD annually, with annual bonus eligibility and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead consumer hardware design projects from opportunity identification through sketching, CAD modeling, physical mock-ups, and prototype creation.
• Translate user research and market opportunities into desirable, feasible physical product experiences.
• Integrate generative AI tools such as Vizcom and Stable Diffusion into ideation, CMF exploration, and high-fidelity rendering workflows.
• Define and share AI-native industrial design methodologies across hirify.global’s global design organization.
• Establish product direction in ambiguous areas and create high-fidelity renders, animations, and visual narratives for executive stakeholders.
• Collaborate with UX, research, strategy, and engineering teams in San Francisco and partner design studios in Korea.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Transportation Design, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• 10+ years of professional industrial design experience and an outstanding portfolio demonstrating high-quality product design.
• Portfolio demonstrating AI-assisted concept development and storytelling, including how AI is integrated into the design workflow.
• Strong sketching, 3D visualization, physical mock-up development, product craftsmanship, and attention to detail.
• Ability to independently lead complex design projects from ambiguous opportunities through finished product concepts.
• Clear communication and storytelling skills, with experience collaborating across global, multidisciplinary teams.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Transportation Design, or an equivalent discipline.
• Experience bringing consumer products to market through manufacturing.
