What you will do

• Design mechanical parts, components, and assemblies for new consumer devices using 3D CAD, preferably Siemens NX.
• Create engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances, and design documentation while collaborating with vendor partners.
• Build, test, troubleshoot, and iterate mechanical prototypes to validate concepts and improve performance, reliability, and user experience.
• Design experiments and apply engineering analysis and test results to guide design decisions.
• Evaluate materials, manufacturing processes, and design tradeoffs for robust, scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, industrial design, manufacturing, and supplier teams to transition concepts from ideation to production.

Requirements

• Recently completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Product Design Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience using 3D CAD software to design mechanical components and assemblies.
• Hands-on experience building, prototyping, and testing mechanical designs.
• Strong understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles, analytical skills, and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts and present work to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary product development environment.

Nice to have

• Consumer product development experience through internships, academic or personal projects, research, or professional work.
• Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes such as injection molding, machining, sheet metal, casting, and additive manufacturing.
• Experience with 3D printers, laser cutters, mills, lathes, engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFM, or DFA.
• Experience working with suppliers, manufacturers, or fabrication partners.
• Experience or interest in industrial design, human interaction design, or graphic design.
