Principal Industrial Designer (Hardware)

Location: New York, New York; hybrid work

Salary: $215,050–$264,150 USD base salary range, plus annual equity awards, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, and region-specific benefits.

What you will do

• Design and develop large-scale fitness equipment, including integrated subsystems and member input devices.
• Lead end-to-end product development from research and early concepts through design for manufacturing and launch.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Mechanical Engineering, UX Testing, Software, vendors, and business partners.
• Communicate design concepts through sketches, physical prototypes, 2D presentations, CAD, and presentations.
• Define and maintain design intent, troubleshoot technical challenges, and support multiple projects at different development stages.
• Specify CMF for user-facing parts and ensure production parts meet design and CMF requirements.

Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant industrial design experience, preferably in an adjacent industry such as automotive, aerospace, or large equipment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design.
• Experience bringing analog and digital products to market with rigorous ergonomic and usability requirements.
• Experience developing small- and large-scale mass-produced products using processes such as injection molding, metal stamping, welding, die casting, extrusions, and soft goods.
• High proficiency in analog and digital sketching, with strong sketching and rendering skills.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks surface modeling and curvature-continuous CAD, KeyShot, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Google Workspace or equivalent tools.

Nice to have

• Fitness industry experience.
• Advanced surfacing experience with SolidWorks or other parametric modeling software.
• Personal interest in wellness or fitness.
