Composites Technician Lead (Aerospace): Establishing and scaling an airframe composites manufacturing operation with an accent on composite fabrication, shop-floor leadership, tooling, and repeatable production processes. Focus on building a technician team, running prepreg and wet-layup operations, solving manufacturability issues with engineering, and supporting first-article aerospace structures.

Location: San Francisco, United States; in-office five days per week is essential

Salary: $115,000–$150,000 per year

Company

hirify.global is a vertically integrated aerospace company developing high-speed airframe and propulsion systems for sustainable supersonic transport and United States government applications.

What you will do

  • Lead composite technicians on the manufacturing floor, set workmanship standards, and oversee daily build activities.
  • Build and scale the airframe manufacturing operation, including facilities, workflows, tooling, equipment, consumables, staffing, and floor layout.
  • Perform and supervise layup, bagging, infusion, curing, bonding, trimming, drilling, and assembly of airframe structures.
  • Work with manufacturing and design engineers to convert build plans into practical shop-floor processes and provide design-for-manufacturing feedback.
  • Establish repeatable practices for material handling, out-time control, kitting, cleanliness, consumables, cure records, quality checks, and non-conformance documentation.
  • Interview, onboard, train, and develop technicians while supporting first-article builds and introducing new processes and materials.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of hands-on composite fabrication experience in aerospace, defense, marine, motorsports, or another high-performance manufacturing environment, including at least two years directing other technicians.
  • Advanced practical experience with prepreg, wet layup, vacuum bagging, resin infusion, oven and autoclave cure, secondary bonding, core materials, trimming, drilling, sanding, fairing, and fitting.
  • Experience with composite detail-part joining, adhesive bonding, shimming, fastener installation, and composite-to-metal joints.
  • Ability to work from engineering drawings, ply books, CAD models, and changing build definitions, and to write clear work instructions.
  • Experience running builds to schedule, managing quality at the source, supporting first articles, and identifying when designs cannot be built as drawn.
  • Physical ability to work full shifts on foot, lift materials, use a respirator, and move around large structures.

Nice to have

  • Experience standing up a composite shop or new build cell from scratch.
  • Experience in a development or prototype shop where build definitions changed frequently.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time, in-office work five days per week to support collaboration and company culture.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance with Flexible Spending Accounts.
  • 401(k) program and transparent stock option plan.
  • Self-managed flexible time off, PTO, paid holidays, and sick time.
  • Flat, pragmatic engineering culture focused on building reliable aerospace systems.
