TL;DR
Lead Composite Technician (Aerospace): Leading and performing aerospace composite fabrication for primary structures, propellant tanks, and secondary hardware with an accent on carbon-fiber layup, bonding, vacuum bagging, and cure-cycle execution. Focus on guiding technicians, troubleshooting complex builds, maintaining AS9100 traceability, and delivering quality hardware on schedule.

Location: Briggs, TX (north of Cedar Park), United States. Must meet U.S. Government ITAR eligibility requirements.

What you will do

  • Lead daily composite fabrication activities on an assigned production shift.
  • Perform and oversee cutting, surface preparation, bonding, hand lamination, vacuum bagging, and full cure cycles.
  • Monitor oven runs and cure compliance for aerospace-grade composite hardware.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, layup instructions, assembly prints, and material data sheets.
  • Identify scarf back plies, support structural repairs, and troubleshoot manufacturing discrepancies.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship while promoting safety, organization, quality, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of composite manufacturing experience; 10+ years preferred.
  • Experience with layup, bonding, vacuum bagging, and cure processes.
  • Ability to read composite layup drawings and assembly prints.
  • Proficiency with pneumatic, hand, and power tools, as well as precision measurement instruments.
  • Ability to drill and lay out precision holes and work with material data sheets.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain the required ITAR authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Aerospace composite manufacturing experience.
  • Experience leading teams or serving as a shift lead.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex composite builds.
  • Experience in an AS9100 or similarly regulated environment.
