Director of Data Center Operations (AI Infrastructure)

Location: Remote, USA, with approximately 20–25% travel to data center facilities.

What you will do

• Own uptime, maintenance execution, incident response, and day-to-day performance across live data center facilities.
• Build and enforce standardized operating procedures covering staffing, maintenance schedules, escalations, and performance benchmarks.
• Manage facility operations teams, site leads, vendors, service providers, contracts, and SLAs across multiple locations.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for operational incidents.
• Own the portfolio operations budget and make staffing and resourcing decisions as facilities come online.
• Report operational health, risk, and performance to executive leadership and coordinate facility handoffs with commissioning and construction teams.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in facility or data center operations, including 5+ years managing multi-site operations teams.
• Experience owning uptime, maintenance, and staffing for mission-critical or large-scale industrial facilities.
• Experience building or scaling an operations function, standard, or team across a growing portfolio.
• Strong knowledge of MEP and electrical systems, including generators, UPS, switchgear, cooling infrastructure, and BMS/controls.
• Experience managing operations budgets and vendor or service contracts across multiple sites.
• Experience presenting operational risk and performance to executive-level stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience running operations for a hyperscale or colocation data center company.
• Experience partnering with commissioning teams on facility turnover and handoff.
• Familiarity with CMMS or facility operations management platforms.
• Experience scaling operations in a high-growth or startup environment.
