Director of Commissioning (AI Data Centers)

Location: Remote within the USA, with approximately 20–25% travel to data center sites and manufacturing locations.

What you will do

• Build and own commissioning standards, procedures, templates, quality controls, and record-keeping practices across the active portfolio.
• Lead and develop Cx Leads and Managers, assigning coverage and supporting the highest-risk and most complex projects.
• Manage commissioning schedules, portfolio-wide resourcing, budgets, vendors, and Cx subcontractor performance.
• Set standards for commissioning plans, FPTs, and IST procedures aligned with OPR and BOD requirements.
• Provide executive and ownership stakeholders with commissioning status, readiness, risk, budget, and program-level recommendations.
• Ensure clean, auditable handoff packages and consistent turnover from construction to live operation.

Requirements

• 10+ years of commissioning experience, including 5+ years managing or leading Cx professionals across concurrent projects.
• Program- or portfolio-level commissioning experience in mission-critical, data center, or large-scale industrial facilities.
• Experience building or significantly scaling a commissioning function, standards, or team from the ground up.
• Deep working knowledge of MEP and electrical systems, including generators, UPS, switchgear, cooling infrastructure, and BMS/controls.
• Experience managing commissioning budgets, vendors, and subcontractors across multiple projects.
• Ability to advise executive or ownership-level stakeholders and interpret single-line diagrams, P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and controls sequences of operation.

Nice to have

• Commissioning experience at a hyperscale or colocation data center company.
• CCP, BCxA, or equivalent commissioning certification.
• Program-level experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Cx Alloy, FACTSuite, or similar platforms.
• Experience scaling construction or commissioning functions in a high-growth or startup environment.
