Data Engineer I (Space)

Location: Hybrid work in Denver, CO, or Long Beach, CA, with at least 3 days per week in the office and additional onsite requirements as business needs require.

Base salary: $80,000–$110,000 in Denver or $85,000–$115,000 in Long Beach, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Build and maintain data pipelines, data products, and data solutions using Python, SQL, and modern cloud data platforms.
• Develop, test, and troubleshoot data ingestion, transformations, and workflows.
• Apply Git, automated testing, and CI/CD software engineering practices.
• Use AI-assisted engineering tools to improve development and testing productivity.
• Collaborate with senior and principal data engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver reliable data solutions.

Requirements

• 0–2 years of experience in data engineering or software engineering.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, data science, or a related technical field.
• Excellent Python programming skills and reasonable knowledge of SQL.
• Strong software engineering, problem-solving, initiative, curiosity, and ability to learn quickly.
• Must work from the Denver or Long Beach office under the hybrid schedule.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain the required ITAR authorizations. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Internship, research, or personal project experience in software or data engineering.
• Exposure to cloud data platforms.
• Experience with Spark, Airflow, dbt, Kafka, or similar technologies.
• Experience using AI-enabled development tools and technologies.
