Transportation Planning and Design Area Principal (Transportation Engineering)

Location: Onsite in Knoxville or Chattanooga, Tennessee

What you will do

• Lead and manage the delivery of transportation programs and complex infrastructure projects across the full project lifecycle.
• Oversee project scopes, schedules, budgets, profitability, specifications, reports, analyses, and quality requirements.
• Develop and present complex technical solutions to clients and support innovative problem-solving.
• Lead business development activities, client pursuits, and expansion of transportation services across Tennessee.
• Coordinate with internal teams, clients, contractors, municipalities, TDOT, and other stakeholders.
• Evaluate, mentor, and develop staff while contributing to long-range plans and alternative delivery capabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• Registered Professional Engineer in Tennessee or ability to obtain a Tennessee PE license within six months.
• 15 years of experience in transportation engineering and project management.
• Demonstrated success leading and managing complex infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of transportation standards, regulations, and best practices.
• Excellent leadership, mentoring, communication, presentation, and client-facing skills.
