Platform Engineer (Kubernetes)

Location: Remote, United States; travel expected 4–12 times per year.

Salary: $123,250–$166,750 for mid-level and $148,750–$201,250 for senior-level positions.

What you will do

• Help application teams integrate, package, secure, deploy, and operate software on the Unicorn Delivery Service and Kubernetes-based environments.
• Build and maintain CI/CD components, runner deployments, UDS packages, Kubernetes resources, Helm configurations, and infrastructure-as-code solutions.
• Support Kubernetes clusters across distributions including EKS and RKE2, as well as cloud-native application deployments.
• Troubleshoot issues across application and platform layers, including source code, APIs, containers, runtime dependencies, and production environments.
• Apply secure coding practices, vulnerability remediation, observability, and security automation.
• Collaborate with application, platform, and external teams and contribute to technical strategy.

Requirements

• Professional experience developing, deploying, supporting, or operating production applications or platform environments.
• Hands-on experience with cloud-native technologies, containers, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, or Kubernetes.
• Strong Linux/Unix troubleshooting skills and experience working with application architectures, APIs, source code, and runtime dependencies.
• Experience with YAML-based configuration, including Kubernetes manifests, Helm, CRDs, or CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with application, API, container, and cloud security practices, including vulnerability remediation.
• Must be eligible to apply for and maintain a U.S. government security clearance and be able to obtain DoD 8570 IAT II certification.

Nice to have

• Deep expertise in Kubernetes, GitOps, CI/CD, Tofu, AWS, Go, or full-stack application development.
• Production experience with EKS, RKE2, Helm, observability, distributed architectures, or security automation.
• Experience with C#/.NET, Python/FastAPI, React, Vue, or NGINX-hosted applications.
• DoD experience, including production Authority to Operate systems, UDS Core, Iron Bank, or C-ATO processes.
• Active U.S. government clearance or current DoD 8570 IAT II certification, plus mentoring experience.
