Software Engineer in Deployment (Kubernetes)

Location: Arlington, Virginia, United States; on-site attendance required at least 4 days per week

Salary: $135,000–$231,000 or $164,000–$273,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, and education.

What you will do

• Lead a team developing, implementing, and maintaining Infrastructure as Code for automated deployment and configuration of Kubernetes-based, multi-site microservice applications.
• Deploy and maintain Kubernetes clusters in unclassified and classified air-gapped environments.
• Debug deployment and configuration issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective solutions.
• Design, implement, test, and integrate software across multiple languages, technology stacks, network protocols, and messaging frameworks.
• Guide technology and architecture evaluations covering cloud IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS platforms.
• Mentor engineers, support code and design reviews, maintain documentation, and coordinate testing and integration activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent professional experience; a master’s degree is highly desired.
• 7+ years of professional software development or deployment experience in technically rigorous environments.
• High-level proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, and Kubernetes management tools such as Helm or ArgoCD.
• Experience with virtualization, networking, Linux, Bash/Shell, and automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, or Salt.
• Basic full-stack development skills including SQL, Python or Java, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance and work from the Arlington office at least 4 days per week. Ability to travel up to 10% is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with RKE2, Rook/Ceph, NFS, Kubernetes cluster networking and storage configuration.
• Experience with Git, Jenkins, Artifactory, DevSecOps, and AWS or Azure.
• Experience managing personnel while maintaining cost and schedule targets.
• Strong problem-solving skills for ambiguous situations.
