Platform Engineer (Hybrid)

Location: San Antonio, Texas, United States; hybrid work with an average of two days per week in the San Antonio office. U.S. citizenship is required, and a Secret-level security clearance will be processed.

Salary: $119,574–$165,000 per year.

What you will do

• Integrate systems and improve, optimize, and strengthen existing codebases.
• Define, build, and manage virtual cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Design and implement software architecture and platform capabilities from prototype through operational deployment.
• Develop custom software components and integrate open-source code to solve complex big data and cloud technology problems.
• Identify and troubleshoot complex technical issues while working autonomously toward strategic goals.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required; eligibility for a U.S. Government Secret clearance is required.
• 9+ years of platform engineering or software development experience with a bachelor’s degree, 7 years with a master’s degree, or 13 years with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience developing and deploying infrastructure in AWS.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Ansible, and storage layers such as Ceph, Rook, or Longhorn.
• Programming experience with Python or Go, strong Linux knowledge, and shell/Bash scripting proficiency.
• Ability to work hybrid in San Antonio, averaging two days per week in the office.

Nice to have

• Experience with DISA’s Big Data Platform or other big data systems such as Cloudera, Hortonworks, or MapR.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, including GitLab CI, Travis CI, or Jenkins.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira, Confluence, GitHub, or GitLab.
• Experience with Puppet, Maven, virtualization platforms, or additional infrastructure tools.
• DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II compliance certifications.
