Platform Engineer (AWS/Cloud)

Location: Hybrid in San Antonio, Texas, United States; average of 2 days per week at the San Antonio office. U.S. citizenship is required.

Salary: $100,173–$135,000 annually.

What you will do

• Enhance, optimize, and increase the robustness of existing code bases as a systems integrator.
• Define, build, and manage virtual cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Design and implement software architecture and capabilities from prototype through operational applications.
• Develop custom software components and integrate open-source code to solve complex Big Data and Cloud problems.
• Identify and troubleshoot complex issues independently while working toward strategic goals set by architects.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required. A current U.S. Government security clearance is not required on day one, but one will be processed; current Secret or TS clearance may also be considered.
• 5+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree in a related field; or 3 years of relevant experience with a master’s degree in a related field; or a high school diploma or equivalent and 9 years of relevant experience.
• Experience developing and deploying infrastructure in AWS.
• Experience administering and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters, including vendor Kubernetes distributions.
• Experience with container build tooling such as Docker or Podman and Kubernetes automation tools such as Helm, Kustomize, or Flux CD.
• Solid understanding of Linux systems, hosts, networks, security, and applications, with proficiency in Shell or Bash scripting.
• Excellent problem-solving, complex troubleshooting, oral communication, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment at the San Antonio office an average of 2 days per week and adapt to schedule changes.

Nice to have

• Current Secret or TS/SCI security clearance.
• 5+ years of Platform Engineering or Software Development experience using Python or Go on a POSIX-style Linux or Mac OS platform.
• Experience writing automation with CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI, Travis CI, or Jenkins.
• Understanding of agile software development methodologies and standard tools such as JIRA, Confluence, GitHub, or GitLab.
• Experience with Puppet, Ansible, Maven, or virtualization technologies such as oVirt, Proxmox, or VMware.
• Prior experience or familiarity with DISA’s Big Data Platform or other Big Data systems such as Cloudera CDH Hadoop, MapR Hadoop, Databricks, or Apache Spark.
