Senior Materials Characterization Technician, Machine Shop, Second Shift (Aerospace)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States. Onsite second-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. PT.

Salary: $31.20–$46.80 USD per hour

What you will do

• Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes to produce precision aerospace metal alloy components and materials test coupons.
• Perform first article inspections, including programming, setups, dry runs, and program edits.
• Program and refine G-code using CAD/CAM software.
• Design and build custom fixturing and follow setup sheets for fixtures, tooling, and inserts.
• Inspect finished parts with precision measuring instruments and verify compliance with engineering specifications and aerospace standards.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate equipment while developing standardized workflows, documentation, and shift hand-offs.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes, including maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Experience performing first article inspections and editing CNC programs for accuracy.
• Ability to design and build custom fixturing and work with fixtures, tooling, and inserts.
• Working knowledge of G-code and the ability to read, understand, and edit existing programs.
• Proficiency with calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other inspection tools.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Wire EDM experience.
• Experience with machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration.
• Knowledge of machining aerospace materials and GD&T measurement techniques.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
