Senior CNC Machinist, Second Shift (Aerospace)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite second shift, Monday–Friday, 2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m. PT

Hiring range: $31.20–$46.80 USD per hour

What you will do

• Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes to produce precision aerospace metal alloy components and materials test coupons.
• Program, edit, dry-run, and refine G-code and CNC programs using CAD/CAM software.
• Design and build custom fixtures and follow setup sheets for fixtures, tooling, and inserts.
• Perform first article inspections and inspect finished parts with precision measuring instruments.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate machining equipment while translating requirements into machining solutions with engineering and cross-functional teams.
• Standardize machine shop workflows, shift hand-offs, and machining procedure documentation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes.
• Experience performing first article inspections, including programming, setups, dry runs, and program edits.
• Ability to design and build custom fixturing and follow setup sheets.
• Working knowledge of G-code programming and the ability to read, understand, and edit existing programs.
• Proficiency with calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other inspection tools for verifying dimensions against drawings and specifications.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.

Nice to have

• Wire EDM experience.
• Machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration experience.
• Understanding of machining best practices for aerospace materials.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of GD&T standards and measurement techniques.
