Senior Product Quality Engineer, EE (Consumer Electronics)

Location: Hybrid in the San Francisco Bay Area, United States, with an in-office requirement of three days per week

Salary: $172,550–$203,000 per year for San Francisco locations

What you will do

• Own electrical Early Field Failure Analysis for Oura Ring products from returned-unit intake through technical disposition and closure.
• Lead field quality and product safety investigations involving batteries, charging, power, sensors, connectivity, interconnects, and leakage-related faults.
• Perform non-destructive-first analysis using electrical characterization, diagnostics, optical inspection, imaging, thermal analysis, micro-probing, and X-ray/CT.
• Build serial-level evidence packages from configuration, manufacturing genealogy, factory testing, firmware and hardware revisions, telemetry, and diagnostic records.
• Direct containment and corrective actions with contract manufacturers and suppliers, then verify effectiveness using field, factory, reliability, and component data.
• Feed confirmed findings into NPI design reviews, DFMEA, component and supplier selection, test coverage, traceability, and reliability planning.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in product quality, failure analysis, or manufacturing quality engineering for electronic products.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuits, power management, batteries and charging, sensors, clocks, PCBAs, flex circuits, solder joints, components, and interconnects.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting and analyzing electronics at board, subassembly, and component level, including both non-destructive and destructive methods.
• Experience with SQL, Python, JMP, Minitab, or comparable tools for data cleaning, hypothesis testing, commonality analysis, and metrics.
• Experience working with high-volume consumer electronics, contract manufacturers, suppliers, process controls, traceability, testing, containment, and corrective action.

Nice to have

• Advanced technical degree.
• Experience building or operating an in-house failure analysis laboratory.
• Experience training technicians and factory partners in repeatable screening procedures.
