TL;DR
Market Lead, Transmission Strategy (PJM) (Renewable Energy): Leading transmission system analysis and generator interconnection studies for utility-scale solar, storage, and wind projects with an accent on automated power flow modeling, PJM planning processes, and grid opportunity identification. Focus on building Python-driven studies, evaluating congestion and dispatch trends, replicating ISO/RTO results, and assessing network upgrade costs and project acquisition opportunities.

Location: United States; remote work or an East region office. Approximately 10% travel required.

Salary: $138,000–$172,550 per year, plus annual bonus.

What you will do

  • Lead transmission system analysis supporting renewable energy prospecting, interconnection, project execution, and acquisitions across the United States.
  • Perform FCITC, injection, deliverability, sensitivity, and other power flow studies for solar, storage, and wind projects.
  • Set up and automate interconnection-wide power flow analyses using Python or other scripting languages.
  • Maintain regional power flow base cases using ISO/RTO transmission plans, resource mix changes, and transmission topology updates.
  • Analyze production dispatch, curtailment, locational marginal pricing, congestion, and market efficiency trends.
  • Review generator interconnection results, network upgrade cost allocations, tariffs, and transmission planning processes with internal stakeholders, Transmission Owners, and ISO/RTO organizations.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in renewable or traditional energy development or transmission planning, with emphasis on generator interconnection studies.
  • Proficiency with power flow software including TARA and PSS/E.
  • Ability to automate generator interconnection studies across an interconnection-wide area.
  • Extensive knowledge of the PJM Regional Transmission Expansion Plan, Long Term Transmission Planning Process, modeling methodology, and generator interconnection study methodology.
  • Experience with transmission tariffs, interconnection standards, cost allocation methods, planning standards, and transmission system performance evaluation criteria.

Nice to have

  • MS in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Familiarity with transmission systems and generator interconnection methodologies in MISO, NYISO, and other affected systems.
  • Experience with PROMOD, UPLAN, GE MAPS, or Aurora.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects against schedules.
