Summer 2027 Internship - Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS)

Location: Los Angeles, CA, United States

Hourly pay: $28–$36 per hour, depending on current academic standing. Monthly housing stipend and overtime eligibility are also provided.

What you will do

• Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Lockout/Tagout programs and procedures.
• Identify electrical hazards and conduct risk assessments for equipment, laboratories, and operations.
• Create, review, and maintain equipment-specific energy control procedures and documentation.
• Develop and deliver safety training materials covering electrical safety and LOTO practices.
• Support electrical hazard assessments, labeling activities, and PPE evaluations.
• Engage employees and reinforce safe work practices to promote a strong safety culture.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field; junior or senior standing is preferred.
• Strong understanding of health and safety fundamentals and the ability to assess occupational risks.
• Ability to develop effective risk mitigation solutions and communicate with technical and non-technical teams.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills for audits, inspections, and procedure development.
• Evidence of exceptional ability through prior projects, portfolios, or completed products.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Control of Hazardous Energy requirements and NFPA 70E.
• Hands-on or academic experience with LOTO, energy isolation methods, or permit systems.
• Knowledge of arc flash hazards, shock risk boundaries, and PPE selection.
• Experience developing safety training or presentations.
• Experience with hazard identification, risk assessments, or safety audits.
