Construction Safety Specialist (AI Data Centers)

Location: Remote-based within the USA, with heavy site-based requirements, regular travel between active construction sites, and extended on-site assignments. Coordination may take place with project leadership in San Francisco, Long Beach, or Houston.

What you will do

• Implement and enforce site-specific Health, Safety, and Environmental plans for new construction projects.
• Conduct daily safety walks, inspections, and audits; document hazards and drive corrective actions to completion.
• Lead pre-task planning, job hazard analyses, toolbox talks, safety orientations, and training for employees, contractors, and subcontractors.
• Investigate incidents and near-misses, perform root-cause analysis, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Maintain safety records, inspection logs, training documentation, incident reports, performance metrics, and trend analyses.
• Support permit-to-work processes, emergency response planning, contractor compliance, and stop-work interventions for imminent risks.

Requirements

• 2+ years of construction safety experience, preferably in energy, industrial, utility-scale, or heavy civil construction.
• Working knowledge of OSHA 1926 construction standards and an OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, site plans, and scopes of work.
• Strong communication skills for working with craft workers, subcontractors, and project management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS or incident-reporting software.
• Willingness to travel to and work on-site at active construction projects, including extended assignments, plus a valid driver's license. Ability to work outdoors, walk uneven terrain, climb ladders and structures, wear PPE, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Nice to have

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or a related field.
• OSHA 500/510 authorized trainer certification.
• CSP, CHST, or similar safety credential.
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
• Experience with power generation, substations, data centers, or oil and gas construction projects.
