Staff Hardware Reliability Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: On-site in Dallas, Texas or Boston, Massachusetts, United States

Salary: $158,542–$237,812 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular employees.

What you will do

• Develop and implement design-for-reliability practices for VBAT flight hardware from concept through production.
• Lead stress screening and environmental testing, including temperature cycling, vibration, HALT, and HASS.
• Conduct failure analysis, materials characterization, and root-cause investigations for manufacturing non-conformances and field failures.
• Participate in design reviews and FMEA activities, identify failure modes, and recommend mitigations.
• Shape material selection and manufacturing requirements while collaborating with design, manufacturing, and supplier teams.
• Use reliability modeling and simulation tools to analyze test and field data and develop corrective actions and process improvements.

Requirements

• Technical background in materials science, electronics manufacturing processes, PCB fabrication and assembly, hardware reliability, and environmental testing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering preferred; Mechanical Engineering or Reliability Engineering degrees are also acceptable.
• Familiarity with PCBs, PCBAs, electronic components, and moving mechanical assemblies.
• Experience working with interdisciplinary teams on product design from concept through production and managing technical projects.
• Proficiency in Python, including NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, Plotly, and Matplotlib.
• Familiarity with IPC, JEDEC, AIAA, AEC, MIL, and SMC standards; ability to obtain a S//SAR-level security clearance is desired.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Reliability Engineering.
• 3+ years of hardware reliability engineering experience, preferably in aerospace or automotive applications.
• Experience with failure analysis, materials characterization, environmental testing, PCB fabrication, SMT, and polymerics application manufacturing.
• Significant knowledge of reliability engineering principles, methods, and tools.
