TL;DR
Hardware Reliability Engineer II (Aerospace Hardware): Supporting the reliability and long-term performance of VBAT flight hardware through environmental testing, failure analysis, and design-for-reliability practices with an accent on materials, electronics, mechanical systems, and manufacturing processes. Focus on analyzing test and field data, investigating root causes, and developing corrective actions for hardware reliability risks.

Location: On-site in Dallas, Texas or Boston, Massachusetts, United States. Occasional travel may be required for testing or supplier engagements.

Salary: $81,456–$137,490 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular full-time employees.

What you will do

  • Support environmental and stress testing, including temperature cycling, vibration, HALT, and HASS.
  • Assist with failure analysis and root cause investigations for manufacturing non-conformances and field returns.
  • Analyze test results and field data to identify failure modes and reliability risks.
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and supplier teams on design-for-reliability practices, materials, processes, and component selection.
  • Participate in design reviews and FMEA activities.
  • Support corrective actions, process improvements, reliability assessments, and reporting using tools such as Python.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in hardware, materials, or reliability engineering; internships and co-ops are acceptable.
  • Foundational knowledge of materials science, electronics including PCBs and PCBAs, and/or mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with reliability concepts and environmental testing methods.
  • Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, teamwork, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain a S//SAR-level security clearance is desired.

Nice to have

  • Hands-on failure analysis or laboratory testing experience.
  • Experience with PCB fabrication, SMT, or mechanical assembly.
  • Basic proficiency in Python or similar data-analysis tools.
  • Exposure to IPC, JEDEC, MIL, or similar industry standards.
