hirify.global is a startup developing uranium enrichment services in the United States to support nuclear fuel production and advanced energy applications.

What you will do

  • Own the selection, characterization, and qualification of metallic materials across hardware programs.
  • Develop physical, mechanical, and thermal property data and design allowables for hardware decisions.
  • Define and improve metal manufacturing and special processes, including heat treatment and welding.
  • Collaborate with chemistry, materials science, design, manufacturing, and test engineering teams to resolve complex materials and process challenges.
  • Lead root-cause investigations using fractography, metallography, and mechanical testing.
  • Establish characterization, inspection, and non-destructive evaluation methods, along with scalable materials documentation and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in materials engineering, metallurgical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of professional materials and/or process engineering experience.
  • Hands-on experience taking materials and processes from selection through characterization, qualification, and production.
  • Working breadth across metallic materials and the ability to connect materials science with hardware development.
  • Evidence of exceptional ability through prior projects, completed products, or a portfolio of work.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any required security clearance and access authorization.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in materials engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with heat treatment, welding, forming, casting or forging, and coatings.
  • Experience with SEM, FTIR, mechanical testing, failure analysis, and materials characterization.
  • Familiarity with ASTM, ASME, AWS, NACE, and related material qualification standards.
  • Experience in a fast-paced startup or Skunkworks-style environment.
