Salary: $150,000–$224,000 USD annually

What you will do

  • Build, lead, and develop the Stage Materials and Processes Engineering team.
  • Own materials and processes engineering for Terran R stage systems across development, design, manufacturing, and reuse.
  • Collaborate with Vehicle Engineering, Materials Lab, Weld Development, NDE, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain.
  • Manage manufacturing dispositions, risk mitigation, and root cause and corrective action activities.
  • Set standards for technical excellence, leadership, and team communication.
  • Support operating plans, budgeting, headcount, and staffing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in materials science, engineering, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of relevant materials and processes engineering experience.
  • Experience with materials and processes qualification, failure analysis, experimental design, and allowables development.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated leadership in a technically excellent, empathetic, and inclusive role.
  • Accountable, collaborative, and action-oriented approach.

Nice to have

  • Experience across the full launch vehicle product lifecycle.
  • Experience with launch vehicle stage products, including primary structures, mechanisms, fluid systems, or avionics.
  • Experience with aluminum, nickel-based and stainless-steel materials, friction stir welding, arc fusion welding, or structural composites.
  • Experience with fatigue and damage tolerance, corrosion, tribology, or oxygen compatibility.
