What you will do

• Own materials and processes expertise for Powder Bed Fusion additive manufacturing of reusable launch vehicle products.
• Own materials and processes activities for reusable liquid propulsion products and materials systems.
• Qualify PBF materials and parts for flight, damage tolerance, inspection, and reuse.
• Develop and maintain technical specifications, engineering standards, requirements, and qualification workflows for PBF materials.
• Lead PBF process improvement campaigns with engineering, production, laboratory, design, manufacturing, and quality teams.
• Perform failure analysis, root-cause investigations, and corrective-action campaigns for PBF parts used in service.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in materials science, materials engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of relevant materials engineering experience.
• Experience with propulsion hardware materials and processes, including material selection, qualification, damage tolerance, inspection, risk assessment, and failure analysis.
• Experience qualifying materials and parts for additive manufacturing Powder Bed Fusion hardware.
• Strong accountability, collaboration, interdisciplinary communication, and execution skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment on iterating PBF-printed rocket engine products.

Nice to have

• Advanced metal PBF expertise for reusable rocket engine or aerospace parts.
• Experience with nickel, ferrous, aluminum, or titanium alloy systems.
• Experience with other metallic additive manufacturing, fusion welding, wrought, forging, or casting processes.
• Knowledge of surface modification and coating processes for damage and corrosion control.
• Expertise in statistical experimental design and design allowable calculations.
