TL;DR
Process and Technology Engineer (Materials Science): Designing and optimizing manufacturing processes for semiconductor and display technologies with an accent on materials characterization, thin-film processes, and process data analysis. Focus on troubleshooting complex engineering issues, performing root cause analysis, implementing new technologies, and supporting production and customers across global regions.

Location: Tempe, Arizona, United States; onsite production environment with night-shift work required

Salary: $108,000–$148,500 per year

What you will do

  • Design experiments, collect and analyze process data, and compile technical reports.
  • Perform hardware characterization and measure film properties.
  • Troubleshoot complex process engineering issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement solutions.
  • Create internal and external product documentation, presentations, and technical reports.
  • Work with customers, vendors, suppliers, and global R&D teams to resolve technical issues and implement new technologies.
  • Serve as a resource for junior colleagues and lead project teams when needed.

Requirements

  • Master’s or PhD in Materials Science and Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of material properties, phase transformations, and microstructure–performance relationships.
  • Familiarity with failure analysis techniques such as SEM, EDS, and XRD.
  • Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic production environment, including night shifts.
  • Availability to provide technical support to customers across Asia, Europe, and the United States.

Nice to have

  • 3+ years of experience in ceramic manufacturing, process engineering, or R&D.
  • Experience with CVD, PVD, ALD, PECVD, or other thin-film deposition techniques.
  • Experience with SPC, Six Sigma, or Lean Manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with JMP, Excel, Minitab, or Python.
  • Experience supporting high-tech customers and leading cross-functional projects.
