Patient Access Associate Specialist (Healthcare)

Location: Onsite at Mercy - Perrysburg Medical Center in Perrysburg, Ohio, United States

Salary: $17.00–$18.65 per hour, based on experience

What you will do

• Perform admitting and pre-registration activities for hospital patients.
• Assign accurate medical record numbers, collect demographic and insurance information, and process physician orders.
• Complete medical necessity and insurance eligibility checks, select plan codes, and enter benefit data to support billing and point-of-service collections.
• Explain consent, Medicare, Tricare, observation, and other required forms; obtain signatures and distribute patient education materials.
• Conduct account audits, correct documentation, and provide statistical data to Patient Access leadership.
• Operate the telephone switchboard and provide compassionate customer service while meeting compliance and point-of-service goals.

Requirements

• Must work onsite and be able to walk from room to room while pushing a 10-pound mobile computer station throughout the entire shift.
• At least one year of customer service experience.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Inquisitive approach and openness to innovation, including AI-enabled process improvements.
• CRCR certification required within nine months of hire; certification is company-paid.
