Test Engineer (Power Systems)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco or New York City, with remote work indicated

hirify.global is building an industrial electric grid for the United States using advanced HVDC transmission systems for AI datacenters, automated manufacturing, refineries, mines, and other large industrial loads.

What you will do

• Develop hardware and software test programs for safe, reliable field deployment of power transmission equipment.
• Design and execute test scenarios for near-term R&D and long-term commercial initiatives.
• Push equipment and systems to their limits, investigate failures, and contribute to post-mortem analysis and improved power system designs.
• Design, commission, and maintain test facilities, including procurement and integration of hardware-in-the-loop simulators.
• Service, debug, and upgrade installed components and systems while coordinating with vendors, project managers, and licensed electricians.
• Support compliant, rapid iteration between testing, redesign, and retesting.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 3+ years of commercial experience in power systems or electrical engineering.
• Hands-on experience with complex, safety-critical systems and failure analysis.
• Familiarity with IEEE, UL, IEC, NEC, NFPA, and ISO standards.
• Experience procuring components and systems from vendors and coordinating multi-vendor solutions.
• Experience with MV/LV transformers, switchgear, LV distribution, busway, microgrids, generation, and BESS.
