Senior Networking Engineer (AI Infrastructure)

Location: Remote, USA. Regular and heavy travel to active construction and commissioning sites is required. Offices are available in San Francisco, Long Beach, and Houston.

What you will do

• Own network architecture across multiple data center sites, including switching, routing, addressing, DNS, firewalls, remote access, and out-of-band management.
• Design facility physical-layer infrastructure, including structured cabling, pathways, cabinets, cross-connects, and fiber and copper plant.
• Design and operate network security controls, including firewall policies, intrusion detection and prevention, segmentation, access control, secure remote access, and logging.
• Build repeatable colocation connectivity processes for customer handoffs, cross-connect provisioning, and tenant network turn-up.
• Partner with controls and security teams on IT/OT segmentation and reliable connectivity for SCADA and BMS networks.
• Prepare contractor specifications, drawings, bills of material, commissioning tests, turnover documentation, monitoring, capacity planning, change control, and incident response.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience designing and operating enterprise or data center networks, including a build taken from design through commissioning and live operation.
• Hands-on expertise with BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VRFs, spanning tree, link aggregation, firewalls, and out-of-band management.
• Experience with next-generation firewall policy, intrusion detection and prevention, network segmentation, least-privilege access, secure remote access, and logging.
• Fluency in structured cabling, fiber types, loss budgets, pathway planning, and TIA-942 or equivalent standards.
• Ability to review construction drawings, riser diagrams, floor plans, vendor designs, and submittals.
• Willingness to travel regularly to active construction and commissioning sites. A bachelor's degree in electrical, computer, or network engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience, is required.

Nice to have

• Colocation or wholesale data center operator experience.
• 802.1X, network access control, SIEM integration, and SOC 2, NIST 800-53, IEC 62443, or NIST 800-82 experience.
• VXLAN, EVPN, leaf-spine fabrics, Python, Ansible, or infrastructure-as-code experience.
• CCNP, CCIE, JNCIE, BICSI RCDD, DCIM, power generation, energy assets, or bitcoin mining infrastructure experience.
