Sr Staff Data Scientist

Location: Mountain View, California or San Diego, California, United States

Base pay: $210,500–$284,500 per year, with potential bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead analytical frameworks and insights across the end-to-end TurboTax customer journey and expert platform experiences.
• Partner with Product, Marketing, Expert Services, and Operations leaders to evaluate and prioritize emerging growth opportunities.
• Define measurement strategies, leading indicators, learning milestones, and success criteria for zero-to-one products and business models.
• Shape experimentation roadmaps, interpret results, and recommend whether capabilities should be refined, scaled, or deprioritized.
• Build customer lifecycle, performance, and growth portfolio views covering acquisition, engagement, conversion, retention, and long-term value.
• Create visualizations, dashboards, and executive narratives while mentoring data scientists and analysts.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data science, analytics, business intelligence, or a related field, ideally in consumer technology, fintech, marketplaces, or SaaS.
• Proven ability to shape strategy and influence executive decision-making through data.
• Experience with zero-to-one products, emerging business models, growth initiatives, or ambiguous problem spaces.
• Strong expertise in experimentation, performance measurement, customer analytics, and causal or decision-oriented analysis.
• Advanced SQL and experience with Python or R for analysis, modeling, and automation.
• Expertise in Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or similar visualization platforms, plus AI tools and IDEs such as Cursor, Claude, Langfuse, or LangSmith.
