Engineer, Bumper Systems (Automotive)

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina, United States. The role requires 4–5 days per week in the office, regular in-person collaboration, and domestic and international travel. Remote work is not available in New York City.

Salary: $90,000–$112,500 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Engineer and develop vehicle exterior systems, including bumpers, fascia, grilles, brackets, exterior trim, bumper beams, hitches, and structural reinforcements.
• Define bumper and fascia standards, requirements, specifications, test plans, DVP&R, DFMEA, control plans, and quality requirements.
• Lead RFQ packages, technical reviews, supplier selection, tooling development, prototype builds, validation, and production readiness.
• Direct CAD and analysis activities, including 3D packaging and validation using FEA, CFD, crash, and other analytical models.
• Lead cross-functional product development teams and provide technical direction across design, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supplier organizations.
• Support vehicle launches and post-launch activities by resolving fit, finish, manufacturing, quality, and robustness issues.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience with vehicle exterior bumpers, fascia, Class A components, trim mechanical areas, or related automotive assignments across design, test, and launch.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering field.
• Experience with mechanical design principles, GD&T, material selection, design for manufacturing, and high-volume automotive production.
• Experience with automotive product launches, prototype builds, production ramp-up, and cross-functional collaboration with suppliers and vehicle engineering teams.
• Experience with CAD tools, preferably CATIA V5/V6; CAE experience or awareness is also required.
• Ability to work in the Charlotte office 4–5 days per week, travel domestically and internationally, and hold a valid driver’s license and passport.
