TL;DR
Design Release Engineer - Chassis and Performance Accessories (Automotive): Leading dealer-installed chassis and performance accessory products from concept through production and lifecycle support with an accent on product requirements, sourcing, validation, and release execution. Focus on coordinating cross-functional development, managing cost and timing, and delivering criteria-compliant vehicle solutions with suppliers and internal engineering teams.

Location: Warren, Michigan, United States; hybrid work with on-site attendance at the Warren Tech Center at least three days per week. The role is not eligible for relocation assistance.

What you will do

  • Lead dealer-installed chassis and performance accessory projects from concept through production launch and lifecycle support.
  • Define customer and product requirements and support sourcing, part development, and validation.
  • Lead cross-functional development meetings with vehicle programs, design, purchasing, engineering teams, suppliers, and other internal partners.
  • Manage cost, timing, and part release activities for assigned programs.
  • Deliver high-quality, criteria-compliant accessory solutions across GM vehicle architectures.
  • Support future products through benchmarking, business cases, proposal development, and supplier innovation.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Development Engineer, Vehicle Performance Engineer, or in a related role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, collaboration, and independent decision-making skills.
  • Exposure to CAD, CAE, Teamcenter, vehicle development, and validation processes.
  • Immigration-related sponsorship is not available for this role. Candidates must not require GM sponsorship now or in the future, including H-1B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, or J-1 support.

Nice to have

  • Experience with vehicle chassis systems and vehicle performance enhancement.
  • Knowledge of the GM Vehicle Development Process, Accessories, Aftersales, and dealership operations.
  • Experience applying AI to improve efficiency.
  • DFSS training or certification, additive manufacturing experience, or familiarity with eMerge, PRTS, DFMEA, and DRBFM.
  • Advanced degree in a relevant field.
