Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Mountain View, California, with hybrid work requiring at least 3 days per week in an hirify.global office. Other listed US office options include Bozeman, Coppell, Livonia, Louisville, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, and Seattle. Willingness to travel within the US and internationally 3–4 times per year is required.

Salary: $150,000–$217,000 per year, plus annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop the next-generation hirify.global Driver Module, integrating in-house compute hardware and electronic control units.
• Own mechanical module design and vehicle-architecture integration from concept through production.
• Design robust, scalable, manufacturable electro-mechanical assemblies for safety-critical autonomous vehicles.
• Support hardware products currently deployed on roads and sustain them through production.
• Collaborate with electrical, layout, CAE, reliability, EMC, NPI, operations, manufacturing, and R&D teams.
• Drive product development with manufacturing partners through mass production at scale.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering and 4+ years of industry experience.
• Proficiency in CAD design and 2D drawing creation using GD&T; Catia 3DX is preferred.
• Experience designing mechanical parts interfacing with PCBAs, sensors, and other electrical components.
• Exposure to injection molding, die casting, stamping, harsh-environment design, shock and vibration, temperature cycling, and long-term durability.
• Experience with hardware troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, tolerance analysis, Worst Case, and RSS methods.
• Strong presentation and documentation skills, plus authorization to work in the United States or eligibility to obtain employment authorization.

Nice to have

• Experience with automotive ECUs, high-performance compute systems, or vehicle integration.
• Experience with high-power, high-thermal-density, and high-speed electronics such as server, networking, or avionics systems.
• Experience designing mechanical control outlines for PCB assemblies.
• Background in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or automotive vehicle design.
