Design Release Engineer - Propulsion Wiring (Automotive Wiring)

Location: Warren, Michigan, United States; hybrid, with in-office reporting at least 3 times a week

What you will do

• Coordinate the design and integration of engine, transmission, and battery harnesses.
• Develop harness routing and select wire gauges, connectors, terminals, attachments, coverings, channels, brackets, and grommets.
• Conduct technical design, drawing, peer, and validation reviews, and complete DFMEAs and DRBFMs.
• Manage program milestones, deliverables, team meetings, and engineering evaluations.
• Collaborate with mechanical, thermal, structural, electrical, manufacturing, and supplier teams to meet quality, cost, timing, and buildability requirements.
• Lead and potentially direct the work of others as a PDT Leader; travel domestically and internationally approximately 10–15%.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 3 years of engineering experience and a strong understanding of engineering theory.
• Ability to analyze complex problems, manage multiple projects, and meet customer deliverables.
• Ability to read, interpret, and create engineering drawings, specifications, and technical evaluation reports.
• Familiarity with CAD and CAE, data analysis, and presentation tools.
• Must be able to work in the hybrid Warren, Michigan location and travel; immigration-related sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Engineering.
• Experience with Power and Signal Distribution Systems, part design release, and major automotive OEMs.
• Knowledge of GD&T, build-to-print or build-to-spec parts, and supplier management.
• Experience with structural, thermal, or NVH analysis tools and Unigraphics NX.
• Design for Six Sigma certification.
