Claim Specialist - Property Field Inspection (Property Insurance)

Location: Baltimore, Maryland, with residence within the listed service-territory ZIP codes required. This is a remote-field position involving work from home, a mobile office or vehicle, and in-person property inspections. Occasional travel outside the assigned territory may be required.

Salary: $69,398.62–$99,000 annually, plus potential yearly incentive pay of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Conduct on-site inspections and assess damage to residential and commercial properties.
• Investigate and adjust personal and commercial property claims with exposures up to $500,000.
• Evaluate coverage, policy terms, regulations, and claim validity.
• Gather evidence, document findings, and prepare detailed claims reports.
• Communicate with policyholders, agents, and other parties throughout the claims process.
• Negotiate and settle claims within authorized limits.

Requirements

• Ability to investigate issues, evaluate information, interpret policies, and make well-supported decisions.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and customer-service skills.
• Proficiency with mobile and desktop tools used to document claims in the field and remotely.
• Physical ability to lift and carry items, climb ladders, navigate roofs at different heights, and crawl in tight spaces.
• Valid driver's license required; rope and harness safety training may be required.
• Successful completion of required training, licensing examinations, motor vehicle record checks, background checks, and pre-employment assessments.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent property claims experience.
• Knowledge of property insurance policies, coverage, and claims handling.
• Knowledge of residential and commercial building construction.
• Water mitigation inspection experience.
• Experience with Xactimate and XactContents.
